About SHIELD:  We are SHIELD- Regional Training Consortium, the Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Public Safety Training Consortium; an organization in the north state where public safety entities have formally joined forces to execute a vision to provide frequent and affordable training courses for all public safety organizations in our region.   SHIELD is a California 501(c)3, non-profit organization. SHIELD is made up of nineteen Public Safety Member Agencies from our tri-counties. Located at 4300 Caterpillar Road, SHIELD has a training facility spanning nearly 48,500 square feet that includes seven classroom spaces, a mat room, a force option simulator room, five conference rooms, eleven offices and two additional breakout rooms with room to expand. Its members also gain access to classrooms and training grounds at the brand-new Shasta College Regional Public Safety Training Facility. Through this collaborative effort, relationships will be forged and strengthened, culminating in a higher level of service to the public. Overview:   The Assistant Executive Director is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing and advancing the mission, vision, and goals of SHIELD.  This individual will provide strategic direction, organizational leadership, and operational management to ensure the success and sustainability of the organization.  The Assistant Executive Director will work closely with the Executive Director and with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders to drive the nonprofit’s impact and growth.

Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership:
    1. Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to set strategic goals and objectives.
  2. Resource Development:
    1. Oversee fundraising efforts, including grant applications, donor cultivation, and fundraising events.
    2. Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, sponsors, and funding partners.
  3. Financial Management:
    1. Assist Executive Board in managing the annual budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability.
  4. Program Oversight:
    1. Direct the implementation of programs and training as needed.
    2. Evaluate program/trainings effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  5. Team Leadership:
    1. Foster a positive and inclusive organization culture that values diversity and collaboration.
  6. Board Engagement:
    1. Collaborate with the Board of Directors to provide regular updates, seek guidance, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
    2. Support board development and engagement activities
  7. Community Engagement:
    1. Act as the public face of the organization, representing SHIELD in the community and with external partners.

Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership experience, with a track record of successful organizational management.
  • Understanding of fundraising strategies and experience in cultivating relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to represent the organization effectively in diverse settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain partnerships.
  • Passion for and commitment to the organization’s mission and values of SHIELD.
  • Experience in the Public Safety arena is preferred.

Compensation: The compensation for the Assistant Executive Director will be hourly. The position is part-time. The hourly rate will be $50hr not to exceed 20 hours a week.  They will be hired as an independent contractor.  No benefits will be offered.
