Course Summary:

This interactive course will engage all participants in stimulating dialogue and activities that will address an Evidenced Based Case Study and the (Five Principles) of the Intercept Model. Participants will learn why offenders are affected by exposure to youth detention and/or parental incarceration. Definitions as appropriate and relevant to each part of this course will be discussed and applied during course discussion and exercises (i.e., bipolarism, suicide ideation, stress, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), post vicarious stress disorder (PVSD). Participants will learn about interventions for adult offenders with serious mental illness. Within groups selected by instructor, participants will engage in discussions relative to the resources, tools, current office policies and standard practices used when responding to mentally ill adult offenders.
