Course Summary:

This interactive course will engage all participants in dialogue relative to the effects of vicarious trauma and recognition of “corrections fatigue”. Self-care assessment. Participants will learn about a variety of self-care techniques and explore ways to reduce on the job stress. Definitions as appropriate and relevant to each part of this course will be discussed and applied during course discussion and exercises (i.e., stress, post vicarious stress disorder (PVSD), mental health, physical health, and emotional health). Participants will learn about the choices they make and remaining mentally, physically, and emotionally fit for duty. Within groups selected by instructor, participants will engage in discussions relative to the resources, tools, current office policies and standard practices used when responding to mentally ill adult offenders.
